Babajide Ogundipe has been recognized as one of Nigeria’s leading practitioners.  His practice spans more than five decades, during which time he has become one of Nigeria’s leading commercial litigation practitioners, developing a focus in civil fraud, asset recovery, and corporate advisory work.

He has also been at the forefront in the development of commercial arbitration in Nigeria starting with qualifying as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in 1994, to the formation of the Nigerian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, where he served as the first Branch Secretary and as a Branch Chairman.  He was also the first President of the Lagos Court of Arbitration (a statutory body created by the Lagos State).

He was, for many years, an active member of the International Bar Association, serving on the executive of the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Regulation of Lawyers’ Compliance Committee.  He is a member of the International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) Global Commission on Anti-corruption and Corporate Responsibility and of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, Task Force “Addressing Issues of Corruption in International Arbitration”.

He is a member of the ICC FraudNet, the world’s leading network of specialist asset recovery lawyers, and was its Co-Executive Director from 2019 to 2022.

 He is currently the co-Chair of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Anti Money Laundering Committee, which regulates the compliance by Nigerian lawyers of the Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations.
