Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, is a distinguished legal practitioner with a stellar reputation in commercial law, dispute resolution, and financial regulatory matters. A founding partner of Sofunde, Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore, he has been at the forefront of some of the most complex and high-value commercial transactions and disputes in Nigeria for nearly four decades.
Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985, Mr. Belgore has extensive experience advising multinational corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, and industry leaders across a diverse range of sectors, including energy, banking, telecommunications, and infrastructure. His practice covers joint ventures, corporate partnerships, M&A, regulatory compliance, oil & gas transactions, and commercial litigation. He is recognized for his sharp legal acumen, strategic foresight, and ability to navigate high-stakes disputes with precision.
Beyond litigation, he is a leading authority in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), with deep expertise in arbitration, mediation, and conciliation. A Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), he has served as Chairman of CIArb (Nigeria Branch) (2014–2017) and is a trusted arbitrator in both domestic and international proceedings. A sought-after lecturer and speaker, he regularly teaches arbitration courses, writes for leading legal journals, and serves as an approved tutor for CIArb fellowship training programs.
Mr. Belgore is also a founding and executive council member of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria and has held several leadership roles in ICC Nigeria, where he served on the Executive Council for several years. His contributions to the legal and business community extend beyond Nigeria, as he holds advisory and leadership positions in various international corporate and professional bodies.
